Nice Ride in Linden Hills

In May, the Nide Ride bike-sharing program installed a station in Linden Hills at Upton & Sheridan. It’s easy to use and so convenient. Take a bike when you need one and return it to any station in the Twin Cities system. Stations have also recently been installed near The Bakken and near the Lake Harriet Bandshell. Information at niceridemn.org.

National Night Out is August 6

The National Night Out is a great way to have fun and build a stronger, safer community by getting to know the people who live on your block. Area block clubs host events ranging from simple front yard get-together’s to street party potlucks with games and activities. Visit the Minneapolis NNO web resource for everything you need to  know including tips on putting together a successful NNO party.

Music in the Village

Have you stopped by to see or play the piano in the pocket park at 43rd & Upton? The piano, compliments of Pianos on Parade, a project which places “artistically transformed” pianos in public spaces around the Twin Cities, is ours to enjoy for the summer. So let the spirit move you. Stop by to tickle the ivories, or to be serenaded by your neighbors.

Big Corn Feed

Thursday, August 8, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Tickets will be sold for activities and concessions during the event.

Join the fun at this annual event at Linden Hills Park. It’s a great way to celebrate the summer with your friends and family. Enjoy live music, delicious roasted corn, moonwalk, face painting and activities for kids, too!

Linden Hills Live

Thursday, August 15, 6:00 to 9:00 pm

The final Linden Hills Live of 2013 will be Thursday, August 15. Gather in the parking lot at Famous Dave’s to enjoy an evening of food, live music and conversation with your neighbors.

Constance Pepin Named MPRB Volunteer of the Year

At a recent ceremony, the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board recognized Constance Pepin, LHiNC Co-chair, for her outstanding volunteer service in 2012.

She was one of five adults and one group recognized with a Remarkable Volunteer Service Award. Each honoree received an artist-designed award, and $500 for the park program they served as a volunteer. The funds will be used for youth to learn about and plant native plants at the Linden Hills Park.

Constance has volunteered for both the MPRB and the Linden Hills community for many years, and currently serves as LHiNC Co-chair and as Chair of LHiNC’s Environment Committee. As a steward for nature and green space in our community, Constance has spent countless hours working on environmentally important objectives including advocating for the protection of the natural areas in our park system. Thank you for your contributions, Constance!
